Up until the age of 30, Gloria Davison was enjoying a financially rewarding career, but derived little personal satisfaction from her work. After much self-reflection, she decided to commence on a career path to nursing. Starting with a Certificate III in Aged Care, Gloria then progressed to a Diploma of Nursing. In pursuing a vocational education and training (VET) pathway, the diverse subjects helped Gloria discover her interests lay in the field of mental health, where she feels she will be able to make a positive difference.
Gloria is now studying her Advanced Diploma of Nursing and is a qualified nurse at The Canberra Hospital’s Adult Mental Health Unit.
Gloria was the winner of the Vocational Student of the Year Award at the 2012 Australian Training Awards.
