Carla Willcox secured a place in the Certificate III in Disability in 2015. With four children, a husband with a fly-in fly-out job, and low self-confidence, she was initially hesitant to return to study but ultimately gained confidence in her ability to learn about the sector and the role of the disability support worker. After commencing her practical placement, Carla knew she had made the right decision and was soon in paid employment as a support worker with Coastal Residential Services North West.
Carla is committed to continuing to develop her skills in the profession. Now undertaking Certificate IV in Disability via workshops and on-the-job recognition, she wants to undertake further study and accreditation and develop her job skills and knowledge so that she can eventually move into management within the sector and make a real difference for people with disability.
