Certificate III in Process Plant Operations

Gas plant operations: Naomi Beath

Naomi Beath is a Kariyarra woman of the Port Hedland area in Western Australia. Through an initial traineeship, Naomi gained qualifications in logistics and worked in a role to support the operations team at the Woodside Karratha Gas Plant.

After eight years in the insurance industry in Perth, Kariyarra woman Naomi Beath returned home to the Pilbara for a career change. Accepting a traineeship in Woodside’s Pathway Program, she undertook a Certificate II and III in Logistics and while working in a support role for the Karratha Gas Plant Operations team realised her interest in a career in that field.

Naomi completed a Certificate II and III to qualify as a Process Plant Operator. Her traineeship, which included study plus practical work at different sites, also improved her written skills and developed her ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.

Naomi has volunteered to train as a Peer Support and Mental Health Advocate, training that will help at work and in the community. She hopes to be a role model for other Indigenous people and believes apprenticeships and traineeships are the best way to build experience and skills to achieve career goals.
