Joel Schwarz grew up on a vineyard and has always been surrounded by agricultural machinery. With a fascination for the magnitude and complexities of mechanical systems, especially in the broad acre sector, it was an easy decision for him to commence an Australian School-based Apprenticeship in Automotive Mechanical Technology to gain a head start on his future career.
During his Australian School-based Apprenticeship, Joel learned skills covering a large range of farm equipment, including combine harvesters, broad acre tractors, hoes, slashers and seeding implements.
Joel is now completing his Australian Apprenticeship after completing Year 12 in 2013. He would like to go on to complete the Certificate IV in Automotive to broaden his knowledge and focus on the structure and science of an engine and how it operates. Joel won the Australian School-based Apprentice of the Year Award at the 2013 Australian Training Awards. The award recognises the most outstanding Australian School-based Apprentice in Australia undertaking a Certificate III or above qualification.
