Alison Mc William is an educator, specialising in training Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults in language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) in remote Australia and in the prison setting.

She has travelled extensively, working in culturally and linguistically diverse settings. When Alison returned from Malaysia and the United States she taught primary school children, but it was not until she worked in China for a Registered Training Organisation as an English Second Language trainer that she discovered her real vocation and passion.

For the past seven years, Alison has delivered LLN training to Aboriginal Australians throughout the Northern Territory, in Western Australian communities and in the Alice Springs Correctional Centre, where she is a senior lecturer currently employed by Batchelor Institute.

She describes her strengths as her ability to work collaboratively, flexibly and respectfully with culturally diverse communities and students, to support the identification of skills needs and develop tailored plans that are appropriate for the lived reality of students.
