The International Training Provider of the Year Award recognises a registered training organisation that has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all aspects of the delivery of vocational education and training to full-fee paying international students.

Perth-based Central Institute of Technology has been providing vocational education and training (VET) qualifications to international students for more than 50 years and now educates over 3000 international students each year through both onshore and offshore courses.

Central’s international students are able to study 120 VET courses, 76 per cent of which are offered at Certificate IV or above. For its outstanding provision of nationally recognised training to full fee paying international students, Central was awarded the 2014 International Training Provider of the Year Award at the Australian Training Awards.

"Winning this award is a landmark achievement for Central and I am so proud that the Institute has been officially recognised for the service and opportunities we provide our international students," Chief Executive Officer, Neil Fernandes said.

"This win will enable us to further cement our position as the natural destination for international students heading to Western Australia. The win is a culmination of a quite deliberate focus on improving our standing in international education over the last five years. It began with award wins at the state level and now being recognised as the best provider in the country and shows we are on the right track."

Central has five international student advisors to support international students with visa conditions, course progress and English language. Free access to International Student Counsellors can be provided if required.

"Our talented staff are the key to our successful programs. From the high level of support they offer international students, and the fact they welcome and celebrate the diversity that defines us. Our International Centre is run by committed staff, dedicated to the personal, academic needs and well-being of international students, ensuring their time with Central is a rewarding experience," Neil said.
