Mikayla’s journey into cookery began with a love of food and creativity. She has always been drawn to the energy of a kitchen and the satisfaction of creating something that brings people together. Honing her culinary skills in fast-paced kitchen environments, Mikayla is cooking up a bright future through her school-based apprenticeship. She is proud of the career she has chosen, and her passion for cooking has inspired some of her classmates to explore VET pathways. 

Mikayla is a student at Roma Mitchell Secondary College. She is undertaking a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery through the Australian Institute of Hospitality (RTO) and Career Employment Group (GTO), and she is employed as an apprentice chef at Feathers Hotel. 

Working busy shifts in a bustling kitchen, Mikayla is mentored by a skilled head chef. Her goal is to become a professional chef and promote sustainable practices in the hospitality industry.
