Joshua has always loved building things. At the age of 13, he started working as a builder’s labourer during the school holidays, and he’s now carving out his future as a school-based apprentice. By working as an apprentice carpenter on architectural construction and residential renovation projects, Joshua has absolutely nailed his building career.
Joshua is a Year 12 student at The Hutchins School. He is undertaking a Certificate III in Carpentry through the Tasmanian Building Group Apprenticeship Scheme (RTO and GTO) while being hosted part-time at Top Deck Building.
Working as an apprentice carpenter with Top Deck Building has been an invaluable experience for Joshua, and the high-level skills he is honing on sites around Hobart will ensure he is always a cut above the rest.
Starting a school-based apprenticeship was the best decision Joshua has ever made. It’s given him purpose and a future in the industry that he loves.
