Elkira Simmons is a proud Wakka Wakka woman who completed a Certificate III in Business through the Australian College of Commerce and Management through a traineeship with her employer, Maxima Training Group.
The traineeship strengthened Elkira's communication, organisation, customer service and recruitment skills, while helping her overcome self-doubt and grow into a confident professional. Her dedication earned a Student of the Month nomination and recognition as a finalist for First Nations Trainee of the Year at the Maxima Graduation. Elkira now works in an administration role with Maxima and aspires to progress into leadership and management.
Beyond the workplace, Elkira promotes education, traineeships and employment pathways through NAIDOC Week, Reconciliation Week, Closing the Gap Day, and school and career expos.
Grounded in culture, family and community, Elkira shares her story and leads by example, helping more First Nations young people recognise their strengths, pursue their goals and create opportunities for their future.
