Conor Stevenson completed a Certificate III in Civil Construction through Construction Skills Training Centre while employed by MEGT and hosted by the City of Gold Coast.

At 24, Conor left a baking career to pursue work offering greater challenge, progression and community impact. Through hands-on training, he developed expertise in workplace safety, concreting, drainage, excavation, construction drawings and environmental controls. Conor contributed to the Ross Street footpath upgrade, which used an environmentally conscious concrete mix, and supported cyclone recovery efforts across damaged beaches and community spaces. Conor has also welcomed new trainee cohorts, participated in panels and appeared in organisational campaigns promoting vocational pathways.

Known for his accountability, resilience and willingness to learn, Conor leads by example and supports others entering the industry. As he continues to build his career, he is showing that taking a new path can create opportunities to strengthen both communities and the infrastructure that supports them.
