Bobby Read is a landscape construction trainer at Wodonga TAFE, part of Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE, with more than 20 years of industry experience. He delivers training across landscape construction, parks and gardens, sports turf management, rural operations and chainsaw safety, combining technical expertise with a strong commitment to hands-on learning.
Recognising that apprentices learn best through practical experience, Bobby transformed theory-heavy delivery into community-focused projects. Apprentice-led initiatives have included an outdoor education space built from recycled materials, a community garden supporting local food security and improvements to campus infrastructure. Through these projects, learners develop technical skills while contributing to sustainable and meaningful outcomes.
Bobby's inclusive approach incorporates visual resources, hands-on learning and tailored support to help apprentices with diverse learning needs. He creates learning experiences that encourage apprentices to take pride in their work, contribute to their communities and see the lasting impact of their skills.
Through practical projects and a commitment to sustainability, Bobby is helping shape capable tradespeople who understand the value of craftsmanship, collaboration and community.
