Caitlin Carter completed a Diploma of Nursing at CIT in 2025 and now works as an Enrolled Nurse at Calvary John James Hospital through its Graduate Nurse Transition Program. A Royal Australian Navy veteran and single mother, Caitlin chose nursing to build a career centred on compassion, dignity and human connection.
Balancing study, clinical placements, Navy commitments and parenting required determination and adaptability. During placement, Caitlin earned a reputation for remaining calm under pressure and helping patients feel safe, respected and supported. Beyond her own training journey, she has become a strong advocate for vocational education, sharing her Free TAFE experience with government, industry and community audiences, including at Parliament House and the National Press Club.
Caitlin is passionate about demonstrating the opportunities vocational education can create at any stage of life. Through her work in healthcare and advocacy for training, she is helping others see VET as a practical pathway to making a meaningful contribution to their community.
