As a passionate swimmer, Alecia decided to undertake a school-based traineeship in swim teaching whilst completing year 12 at Mount St Joseph Girls’ College. Alicia is enrolled in a Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation at Chisholm Institute, employed by LEA and hosted by Bayfit Leisure Centre.
Alicia plunged enthusiastically into teaching children water safety techniques. She strongly believes swimming is an essential skill that can save lives and promote overall wellbeing, and she relished the opportunity to create a learning atmosphere that was both engaging and beneficial for her young students.
Alicia’s strong work ethic and genuine enthusiasm enabled her to gain many new skills during her traineeship, including leadership skills, teamwork skills, problem-solving skills, first aid skills and emergency response techniques.
Alicia volunteers at an animal shelter, and she ultimately hopes to pursue a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree and become a veterinarian.
