Amali has loved the art of hairstyling since she was young. From an early age, she experimented with her family's hair and styled her dolls. Unsurprisingly, she eagerly accepted the opportunity to complete a school-based apprenticeship in hairdressing. It was the head start she needed for her chosen career.

Wind back the clock a few years, and Amali’s passion comes to the fore. At the age of 14, she began working as a salon assistant with Blush Hair and Beauty Bar Bathurst. Amali is now a Year 12 student at MacKillop College. She is enrolled in a Certificate III in Hairdressing at The Hair Academy Australia (RTO) and employed part-time at Blush Hair and Beauty Bar Bathurst.

A proud leader among Indigenous women at MacKillop College, Amali has also captained non-contact rugby league teams. Her school-based apprenticeship has allowed her to thrive while pursuing her passion.
