Deadly Connections Program
ECTARC Training Services is a community-owned, not-for-profit RTO delivering vocational training in early childhood and school aged education and care.
With a strong commitment to quality, innovation and industry relevance, ECTARC provides contemporary training that responds to the needs of learners, employers and local communities.
In partnership with Bourke and District Children’s Services, ECTARC co-designed Deadly Connections, a culturally responsive initiative developed to address persistently low qualification completion rates among early childhood educators in Bourke.
Rather than applying a standard training model, ECTARC worked closely with the local community to create a place-based program that reflected local priorities and addressed the unique barriers faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and rural learners.
Grounded in cultural safety, relationships and community leadership, the program delivered significant results, increasing qualification completion rates from 17 per cent to 40 per cent in its first year.
Through Deadly Connections, ECTARC has strengthened workforce capability, expanded pathways to qualification attainment and helped build a more sustainable early childhood workforce for the Bourke community.
