Since childhood, when Emma helped in her father’s business installing sound systems for events, her dream was to work behind the scenes in live music, musicals and theatre. When the opportunity arose, she immersed herself in a technical production traineeship. Her goal was to build a solid foundation for a long-term career in the creative arts.

As part of her traineeship, Emma was enrolled in a Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services at the Victorian Arts Centre Trust and employed at the Arts Centre Melbourne.

In an environment where technical production roles are traditionally male-dominated, Emma worked with several highly skilled female sound engineers. These passionate advocates for equal representation assured Emma that there is a place for women in the industry.

Emma hopes to help other First Nations creatives develop their ideas and projects, while exploring opportunities with First Nations theatre companies.
