James, known to many as ‘Poncho’, is a tourism professional with decades of experience in sharing stories, culture and history with visitors from around the world.
James completed a Certificate III in Guiding through TAFE NSW while balancing multiple jobs, community responsibilities and family duties. It was no easy feat, but his passion for learning fuelled his motivation. It also served as a significant milestone by recognising his extensive experience in tourism and heritage with a formal qualification.
Buoyed by the success of his training experience, James is planning to launch an Indigenous tourism venture that celebrates the rich culture and history of Wonnarua Country.
With the support and encouragement of his TAFE NSW teachers, James hopes to continue his vocational training journey. Having discovered a passion for mentoring, he wants to support the growth of future tourism professionals, ensuring they gain the essential skills and confidence needed for success.
