Jessica never considered following in her father’s footsteps in construction until a career in tourism was disrupted by the global pandemic. After moving back to the family home, Jessica found herself working alongside her father, digging holes and jackhammering sandstone for a backyard landscaping project. She has never looked back.
Having completed a Certificate III in Carpentry through Realistic Training Options and Skill Set Building, Jessica is now a qualified carpenter and proud business owner. In addition to renovation work, Jessica has carved out a career building sets for film, television, and theatre, including the 2022 Logies.
Jessica serves as an Ambassador for Awesome Women in Construction and won their 2024 Outstanding Woman in Trade award. She mentors young women entering the trade, co-hosts the “Let's Talk Tradies” podcast and actively engages in community-building and educational projects.
Vocational education has given Jessica a new perspective on life and a sense of accomplishment that she never thought possible.
