Kean Soong is an English as an Additional Language teacher at AMES Australia, where he has supported migrants, refugees and asylum seekers since 2022. Drawing on experience in English language and business management education, he connects classroom learning with employment, study and community participation.  

Kean has pioneered the use of the AI-powered myAMES Chat App to help learners practise pronunciation, conversation, telephone communication and interviews in a safe, supportive environment. He also builds workplace vocabulary and digital confidence through practical, individualised activities.  

Beyond language teaching, Kean has delivered vocational units in customer service and retail and actively connects learners with Skills for Education and Employment work experience. Twenty-three of his students have undertaken placements since September 2024, with several progressing into paid employment.  

Kean mentors Language, Literacy and Numeracy and VET) practitioners, shares AI-supported teaching strategies, contributes to professional forums and collaborates with technology and research partners to strengthen ethical, employment-focused adult education practice.
