Swapping her lab coat for lesson plans, Laura found an exciting new direction in vocational education. After a 15-year career with ACT Pathology, Laura is now a passionate laboratory studies teacher at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT).
With a strong foundation in science, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student success, Laura manages the laboratory studies programs at CIT. She has introduced innovative learning strategies, such as escape room challenges and structured work placements that have engaged students and led to meaningful employment outcomes. As a dedicated advocate for vocational learning, Laura actively collaborates with industry partners and mentors her peers to ensure the Institute’s laboratory programs remain current and job-focused.
To ensure students are well-prepared for meaningful careers in science, Laura is expanding access to STEM and refining training packages to meet the evolving needs of industry. There’s no doubt about it. She’s a STEM-sational educator.
