South Australia

Qualification: Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology

RTO: Comtech Training

Employer: Programmed Skilled Workforce

Host Employer: Telstra

Believing women can thrive in traditionally male-dominated industries, Lili left her career in beauty therapy to pursue a hands-on role in a new trade. She decided to make a difference as a young female in the telecommunications industry, which involved a 12-month traineeship as a telecommunications rigger.

Lili completed a Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology through Comtech Training (RTO) and Programmed Skilled Workforce (GTO) while she was hosted full-time by Telstra. She now works as a telecommunications rigger with Telstra, working at heights to build and repair Australia’s mobile network infrastructure.

Climbing tall towers and dodging crocodiles are all part of her high-risk job, so Lili naturally has a focus on safety. Her standard-issue PPE had to be adapted to suit women, which Lili took in her stride.

Through her focus and determination, Lili stands as a role model for young Australians seeking to challenge stereotypes and achieve their goals.
