Marlissa White is a Year 12 student at Aveley Secondary College completing a Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology with MTA WA.As one of WesTrac’s first school-based trainees, Marlissa is learning how a busy workshop operates while developing skills in vehicle servicing, workplace safety and teamwork.
Fascinated by cars and boats from a young age, Marlissa has always wanted to understand how things work, maintain them herself and one day rebuild vehicles of her own.
Entering a traditionally male-dominated industry required confidence and determination. By asking questions, embracing new challenges and making the most of every learning opportunity, Marlissa has grown both her skills and self-belief.
Marlissa now shares her enthusiasm for the industry with fellow students, encouraging others, particularly young women, to explore careers in the trades.
With growing technical skills and confidence, Marlissa is proving that curiosity can be the first step towards a rewarding career.
