Miriam is a dynamic, caring and experienced language, literacy and numeracy teacher. She has been delivering English language, literacy and numeracy training to refugee and migrant students within the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program and Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) at TAFE Queensland for the past five years.
Miriam specialises in supporting refugee and migrant students who have limited education in their first language and minimal English proficiency. She uses engaging, trauma-informed training to provide her students with the best possible introduction to life in Australia.
Miriam’s teaching philosophy emphasizes inclusivity and engagement, and she employs total physical response and kinaesthetic learning to create a dynamic and interactive classroom environment. She also champions and delivers special projects such as swimming lessons, driver literacy classes and job clubs with embedded language, literacy, numeracy and digital literacy elements to help her students learn English, overcome barriers and gain meaningful employment.
