Born and raised in the remote community of Aurukun, Rhonda embarked on her training journey through Rio Tinto’s Local Aboriginal People traineeship program.

As part of her traineeship, Rhonda was enrolled in a Certificate IV in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Response at First Response Australia and employed at Rio Tinto Weipa.

Rhonda completed the traineeship early, moving into a permanent role at Rio Tinto Weipa. Having previously completed a Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations), Rhonda is now equipped to deliver life-saving support for her colleagues and the wider Weipa community.

As a proud Wik and Wik Waya woman, Rhonda facilitates cultural awareness inductions for new employees, and always promotes employment and training opportunities at Rio Tinto Weipa when she speaks with community members and young people.

Rhonda is passionate about community engagement, and she is a strong role model for her community.
