As Victoria’s peak voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, VACCA invests heavily in the skills of its 1,000 employees. Through a network of registered training organisations, VACCA staff engage in nationally recognised training to support their role in protecting the rights of Aboriginal children and families.
A wide range of vocational education and training (VET) programs are undertaken by VACCA staff, including Certificate IV and Diploma level qualifications in community services, leadership and management, and early language and literacy.
VACCA staff are provided with wrap-around support to engage in VET, including paid time off work to attend training. Those who complete their qualifications feel a sense of renewed confidence, pride and clear career direction.
Access to VET has provided VACCA staff with an opportunity to pursue their education and career dreams, and to strengthen their ability to assist Aboriginal children affected by socio-economic disadvantage, marginalisation and intergenerational trauma.
