Zander’s training journey began as a leap of faith when they decided to kick start a new career as a lighting technician – after fifteen years of drama teaching.
Having developed an interest in theatre as a child, Zander wanted to experience both on- and off-stage theatre roles. After leaving school, Zander studied to be a drama teacher, thriving in the creative roles of director and designer.
Over time, Zander’s interest in the technical aspects of theatre grew, so completing a Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services at TAFE SA was a natural progression. Zander now works as a lighting technician at the Adelaide Festival Centre.
Zander’s long-term goal is to work as a theatre technician in schools, incorporating their educational experience and technical production skills. By creating a safe space for young people, Zander looks forward to providing technical training, mentoring and pathways into the creative arts industry.
