Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher)
Having decided that he wanted to explore a career as a butcher, Bryce Riethmuller approached Maclagan Meats himself to discuss an Australian School-based Apprenticeship. Within two weeks, he received a formal offer to begin this apprenticeship. Working across the entire ‘paddock to plate’ aspects of his industry, Bryce’s apprenticeship has helped him develop a range of trade-relevant and transferrable skills. After helping out friends and family with ‘on-farm’ butchering, Bryce knew that this was the career for him. In keeping with his broad view of the meat industry, Bryce also helps show and judge cattle, improving his knowledge of meat and farming practices even further. Bryce now works two days a week, attending school the other three days, and looks forward to a rewarding career as a butcher.
