Diploma of Conservation and Land Management

Louise’s love of the outdoors and passion for the environment meant a career in conservation and land management would be a natural choice. The thing is: she didn’t know it.

While office work paid the bills, Louise felt work lacked meaning and she was capable of much more. A redundancy got her thinking about her true passions and saw her heading to the Gordon in 2015 to complete a Diploma of Conservation and Land Management.

She recalls her first year of study as a big learning curve, as she hadn’t studied full-time since leaving high school. However, she achieved high distinctions and was awarded the George Alexander Foundation scholarship for academic excellence.

Louise is a leading example of life-long learning. Now as a full-time Waterways and Land Officers at Melbourne Water, Louise is reaping the rewards of changing her career to chase her dream
