Marianne Slade is a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) Trainer and Project Officer for STEPS Group Australia.

Marianne has experience teaching a cross-section of age groups, cultures and workplace environments. She has trained indigenous learners undertaking vocation education in construction, agriculture and horticulture in various remote locations of Western Australia, Northern Territory and North Queensland.

She is skilled in LLN training and assessment, computer technologies and e-learning. Marianne plans and facilitates LLN programs, and develops contextualised resources and Australian Core Skills Framework and Foundation Skills Training assessments for workplace employees, school-based learners, youth groups, cattle station trainees, and foundation skill learners.

Marianne is driven to provide authentic and realistic learning tasks and has a passion for supporting learners with significant learning difficulties or very low literacy. She feels the biggest challenge as an LLN trainer is to create and maintain interest and motivation among learners, and create a positive learning environment among individuals who have often had negative schooling experiences.
