At age 30, Luke Alderton left his family, friends and decade-long career in retail management to relocate from Queensland to Victoria and pursue his dream of working in the media and entertainment industry.

Luke’s attraction to Melbourne was based on the offerings of the Diploma of Screen and Media at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE, in particular the skills it would teach him in creating, producing and presenting for both radio and television, and the varied work experience opportunities it provided.

During his studies, Luke gained some lifelong mentors, and enjoyed hands on experience at ABC Radio and Working Dog Productions. Upon completion of his studies, he secured a position with Channel Seven where he works as a commercial inventory clerk.

Luke was named Holmesglen Institute of TAFE’s 2014 Outstanding Student of the Year, as well as receiving the Dean’s Award for Highest Achieving Student 2014. In his spare time, Luke volunteers for Melbourne based radio station 3RRR where he enjoys sharing his love of the music industry with listeners – a passion he hopes to turn into a career in the future.
