Brendan Murray grew up in the foster care system and ever since has wanted to help Aboriginal children get the best out of life and bring about positive change in his community.

As a mentor to Aboriginal youth in his community, Brendan is making a huge difference to those that need it most in his position as Youth Worker at the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre in Burnie.

One of Brendan’s key responsibilities at the centre is the delivery of youth programs for children and teenagers experiencing family breakdown, addiction, violence, poverty, mental health issues or those in state care. His programs address communication skills, personal development, Aboriginal identity, language, literacy, numeracy and anti-bullying strategies, to name only a few.
