The Australian Racing and Equine Academy is a collaboration of TAFE NSW – Western Sydney Institute and Racing New South Wales. The Australian Racing and Equine Academy addresses the identified issues within the racing industry through a combination of licensing reform, flexible training and assessment solutions and increased safety of racetracks and horse training facilities.
The Thorough bred Racing Industry contributes significantly to the economy of New South Wales and is one of the state’s major employers in occupations such as jockey, track rider, stable hand, barrier attendant, horse trainer, farrier and equine nurse.
Since the formation of the Australian Racing and Equine Academy the numbers of workers in training have increased, worker compensation claims have decreased and a wider range of support services are available.
The Australian Racing and Equine Academy won the Industry Collaboration Award at the 2013 Australian Training Awards. The award recognises an exemplary skills development collaboration between an employer or industry body and, at least, one other organisation.
